Kiel

Known for the Kiel Canal and Kiel Week, the city boasts an important maritime history. Kiel is also a great place to sight-see, do some shopping and take part in one of the many festivals taking place there.

Hamburg

Hamburg is Germany’s second-largest city with a history dating back to Charlemagne. A major port, this vibrant city is home to art and culture, extensive shopping facilities, Baroque buildings and waterfront vistas. With its well-known fish market, art galleries and Museums together with several beautiful parks including a botanical garden, this is a city with something for everyone. British visitors who remember the Swinging Sixties may like to visit the streets around Grosse Freiheit, where an unknown pop group called The Beatles gave their first public performances in various local clubs before achieving worldwide fame.

Hamburg is a port city on the Alster River, which is a tributary of the Elbe. At the same time it is one of the three new federal states since the reunification of Germany. The Hamburg fish market is a popular tourist magnet. The Reeperbahn is one of the most visited attractions in the city. Visitors can get up close to their stars at the Panoptikum, a wax museum. The Speicherstadt offers cafes, museums and smaller canals and the Elbphilharmonie, which is located on the banks of the Elbe, is considered a "cultural monument for all".

Lauenburg

Located just outside Hamburg, the small town of Lauenburg has a beautiful old town, which nestles picturesquely on the slopes of the Elbe River and is home to many galleries and arts and crafts businesses. Thanks to the charming atmosphere of the town, walks in this district are very nice. Also worth seeing is the lovingly designed Elbschifffahrtsmuseum, which is housed in a historic building in the middle of the old town and vividly depicts the most important aspects of shipping on the Elbe, which has always been very important for Lauenburg.

Bad Bodenteich

Bad Bodenteich is a municipality in the district of Uelzen, in Lower Saxony, Germany. It is situated approximately 17 km southeast of Uelzen. Bad Bodenteich was the seat of the former Samtgemeinde Bodenteich.

Wolfsburg

The city of Wolfsburg is located in Lower Saxony in the north-west of Germany. It is mainly known as a car city, because a large VW plant is located here. In addition, VW has a large museum and an amusement park in the immediate vicinity of the plant. Furthermore, one can visit the "Science Center Phaeno" in Wolfsburg, which is convincing from the outside by its special architecture, and from the inside by its exciting content on the subject of natural science and technology. Rothensee

Rothensee is located in the north of Magdeburg and is known for its famous ship lift, which is a true work of art due to its technical construction. The construction of the ship lift has historically been a milestone for water transport technology, but was already decommissioned in 2006 because the dimensions of the construction are too small for today's ships. For these reasons, the ship lift nowadays only serves as a monument.

Magdeburg

Burg near Magdeburg is the self-proclaimed city of towers. Northeast of the state capital, the Elbe River marks the city area with its course. The medieval walls and towers can be seen from afar. For more than 300 years, the Witches' Tower has towered over the town. It is cozy in the old town quarter, where small cafés invite you to take a break after a walk through the old town alleys. Tuesdays and Fridays are market days in the streets of the city center. In addition to the regional vendors, the stores and boutiques also attract visitors - and restaurants and cafés in the lively center of the tower city take care of hunger. The churches, above all the Romanesque church of St. Nicolai or St. Peter's from the 13th century, are an exciting destination not only for churchgoers. After a short stroll through the city, the shady giant trees in Goethepark provide welcome cooling.

Brandenburg

Brandenburg Stadt or Brandenburg an der Havel is a city in the north-east of Germany. It is especially known for its Gothic buildings. Among others, the old town hall or the Brandenburg Cathedral can be mentioned here. In addition, you can visit several other churches in Brandenburg city, such as St. Catherine's Church, St. Gotthard's Church or St. Nicholas Church. In addition, the city still the Industry Museum Brandenburg an der Havel, the archaeological museum Brandenburg, as well as the Psychiatry Museum of the Asklepios to offer.

Potsdam

The capital of Brandenburg, Potsdam, is the most populous city in Brandenburg with about 180,000 inhabitants. However, Potsdam convinces primarily by a whole number of worthwhile sights, which even count to the UNESCO world cultural heritage. Berlin

Berlin is the capital of the Federal Republic of Germany. With its rich history and modern significance, the city offers countless fascinating sights to explore.Among its most famous landmarks are the Brandenburg Gate, the TV Tower, and the Victory Column. Berlin is also home to all major government buildings – most notably the Reichstag, with its striking glass dome, which is well worth a visit.You can also discover sites of great historical importance such as Checkpoint Charlie or the East Side Gallery, a preserved section of the Berlin Wall. And for shopping enthusiasts, the Kurfürstendamm – one of Berlin’s most iconic boulevards – offers a perfect mix of boutiques, cafés, and lively city flair.

Viva All-Inclusive

There is air conditioning on all VIVA ships. The air conditioning in your cabin is individually adjustable and can also be used as a heater. When the balcony door is open, the system in the cabin is automatically switched off.

Air Conditioning

For reasons of space, bicycles can only be taken on board on request and not on all ships. On some ships we have bicycles with us, which you can borrow free of charge at the reception, depending on availability. The team on board will also be happy to assist you with renting bicycles on site.

Bicycles

We want our guests to feel comfortable on board and live the casual lifestyle on board. This also applies to the cloakroom: the dress code is casual - comfortable during the day and on excursions and sporty and elegant in the evening. We generally recommend sturdy shoes for shore excursions.

Clothing

On all VIVA Cruises river cruises, we not only offer you an extensive breakfast buffet and multi-course gourmet menus, but also individual care for all common food allergies or intolerances. If you have not registered before the trip, please notify the reception on the day of arrival so that the kitchen on board can optimally adapt to your needs.

A doctor is not on board, as the nearest town can be reached quickly in an emergency. First aid can be provided on all VIVA Cruises ships in an emergency.

Medical Facilities

WiFi is included in the all-inclusive package on all VIVA ships. Please note that there may be restrictions on the use of the Internet depending on the area of travel.

There are life jackets in your cabin or stored by the wheelhouse on the sun deck. You will receive information about this in the rescue exercise on the day of embarkation. Participation in this exercise is mandatory for every guest.

Life Jackets

In general, our ships are not completely barrier-free and therefore only suitable to a limited extent for guests who are solely dependent on a wheelchair. You will find stairs and narrow doors and corridors. In addition, not all landing stages are designed to be handicapped accessible on river trips, and entry via the mostly narrow gangways is not always at ground level. Some of our ships have lifts to make the reception and restaurant easy to reach. However, it should be possible to take some steps without a wheelchair. We generally recommend booking with an accompanying person, as there is no special support staff available on board.

People in need and guests with reduced mobility

For safety reasons, smoking is not permitted on board in the entire interior or in the cabins of our ships, but only permitted on the outside decks. Please do not throw cigarettes overboard, use the ashtrays provided. We also ask that you show consideration for non-smokers.
